The National Centre for Radiation Protection in Health Care has published another, this time available on-line, version of the “Diagnostic imaging referral guidelines for physicians. 8th edition”. This is a translation of the UK guidelines: “iRefer: Making the best use of clinical radiology. 8th edition” developed by the Royal College of Radiologists. This publication is a guide for referring physicians and clinicians to select the appropriate imaging test for a specific clinical case. Application of these guidelines by medical personnel will help to use modern diagnostic imaging techniques more effectively as well as limit patient exposure to ionising radiation.
